Leytonstone United Free Church Minutes of Church Meeting held Sunday 4 th December 2005 These minutes will not be confirmed as acurate until our next church meeting IN MID MARCH- if you feel there needs to be any amendments, please contact the administrator AGENDA 1.The meeting began following our morning worship. 2. Apologies: were received from Aaron C, Doris D, Carol K, Florence K. 3. Minutes of September church meeting were read and confirmed - Joan 4. Matters Arising: Toddler Group; the launch is postponed until mid January – suitable toys were requested. House Groups; David drew together the thoughts of those who attended, he proposed one group for Lent, looking at John Henson’s book ‘Disciples’. Thanks expressed for the work David did for the study of “The Purpose Driven Life”.
5. Dates for the Diary Christmas activities - Alison Christmas Services: 4th / 11th / 18th December Advent Reflections 24th Midnight Carols with refreshments Christmas Meal for Senior Citizens 14th December – Lisa Moon will cook, Year 6 of Gwyn Jones School to help. The Corner Stone Church Lunch Club to join us. Proposal for Church Party: Sunday 18th December, a bring and share fellowship lunch, Joy Park to talk with Lisa Moon about food. Walk ‘Thru the Bible: Lecturer will visit Sunday 10th January 2006 for taster. Walk ‘Thru the Bible Seminar: 21 st January 2006 . 6. Easter walk: Agreed to continue with walk around the Hollow Pond followed by breakfast, Gordon and Joyce Dykes to prepare - Alison 7. Pastoral Pastoral Matters: James(Jim) Dulson’s funeral tomorrow(5 th) . Tom K back at church, after heart by-pass operation. Florence K, critically ill in Whipps Cross Hospital, Birch Ward. Claudia W, recovering from operation. Angela C has moved into Reginald Sorenson House. Deandra A is still awaiting hospital results, home for part of each week. Peter R, to have triple heart by-pass operation in January. Further needs on fortnightly prayer letter. Thank you letter received from Josh J on his return to America . Members were requested to be aware of several new people in church recently. Thanks were expressed to Steven for his time on Church Council, he is retiring 4 months before his sabbatical year is due. Church Council news: Stephen F has decided to take his sabbatical early from Council – by this I mean that Stephen’s period of 8 years service as a Church Counsellor is due to end in March next year, but due to personal circumstances, he has decided to step down four months early. Stephen, I want to say that Council received this news with much sadness as you have been a vital member of our team, and we have greatly valued your professional approach and the depth of commitment you have demonstrated, particularly through the interregnum and in these early days of my minister. I am sure I speak on behalf of the whole church as I say a big thank you for all you have done, and as you take this time aside our prayer for you is that you will know Gods rich peace and sense His deep presence. 8. What do we do for/with our children? At a recent meeting held at the manse, question arose; What can we do for boys? Mix Sunday School and Girl’s Brigade midweek. Personnel needed, preferably nearer their age. Amy is willing, but there’s no time at present in Church schedule other than Fridays, Amy not free then. The requests have come from non-church parents. Need to pray for dedicated leaders. Suggested a junior church council commence, the 10/11 year olds to have a voice, Councillors need to befriend these to bring their ideas to Church Council. Holiday Club: 4 days of pre Easter week 10 -13 April, 2 hours a day, help needed. 9. Finance & Management - Bob Christmas Letter and Gift Envelope will go with Church Christmas Card and 2006 Church Calendar to each Pastoral Carer to distribute. Offerings are on target. Treasurer reminded members building is wearing out, kitchen Ovens need to be looked at. Office printers: still being considered. Recent Earthquake: as Christian Aid not working there money sent to Islamic Relief Fund and Medicine Sans Frontier. 10. Items for next months Agenda The Mission of the Church? 11. Any other Urgent business Musical Launch – Paul & Simon Simon T bought the request that the church take part in the Leytonstone Festival in July 2006 by performing Roger Jones’s ‘Apostle’. Paul C to be Musical Director, Simon – Overall Director. Everyone needed, rehearsals start in January. Members reminded; can put one card to Church on boards in foyer, savings to cause of choice. Yellow leaflets ready for distribution. Night Shelter; our turn for cooking tonight. March 18th Sarah T booked date for family party, all invited.12.Next meeting Sunday 12th March AGM 13.
