History & Format

Principle Mary Dunne, honorary member od BTDA

Mary Dunne Theatre School was established in 1990 and has been growing and improving ever since. We follow the British Theatre Dance Association Syllabus, enabling children to progess through gradework in ballet, tap, and acrobatics. At the higher levels, these grades are the equivilant of GCSE's, A Levels and eventually UCAS points which all contribute to a student's chances of entering into the university of his or her choice.

We believe in hard work, professionalism and perseverance. Our prices are competetive and our standards are among the highest in Lodon. On average, we expect to see each child take at least one exam per year, and every January, we put on an annual showcase, held at a professional, fully equiped theatre.

In addition to our regular classes, we also offer an open modern class, and a Summer School, held in the month of August, at the end of which the children present their own version of a well loved musical.

We welcome children from all backgrounds and nationalities and hope that you find joy and satisfaction in our family environment.

All classes last 45 minutes; the grade classes are generally divided predominantly between ballet and tap, with some time for modern jazz.

The acrobatics classes begin with a warm up and explore flexibility, elevation, balance work and floor gymnastics.

The open modern class is for anyone from age 10 upwards with an interest in comercial, jazz and contemporary styles.
